Getting the Lowdown on our Measurements

Generally we try to measure all of our products the same way so that we have a consistent measurement system. And we use standardized charts for crocheters when it comes to telling the difference between what would be considered baby items, children items and adult items. Now, everyone is different so we try not to limit our categories to just the normal ones so listing each item by the inch is a more general way of letting our customers know that our items may or may not fit them.

Jewelry

Any beaded item is measured from bead end to bead end and doesn’t necessarily include the clasps or any extra chain length we might include. This includes all necklaces, bracelets, anklets and eyeglass chains/employee badge lanyards. The earrings we just measure the beaded bottom part and do not include the earwires. For the beaded keychains we only measure the beaded part as well and do not include any metal rings or clasp that we have included with the charms. You can also get some great information on how beads are measured by visiting

Crocheted Items

All crocheted items are laid down flat and measured across the bottom and then top to bottom. For purses and totes we also measure the straps from one end of the tote to the other. The wider ones we will try to list the width as well. So, for hats, unless otherwise specified, the circumference around the bottom may need to be doubled to get a true estimate on the width around. We also measure hats from the top down the middle to get the height. Another thing to consider is the type of yarn used to make the item. Some yarn is thicker than others and some are more stretchy too. Regular sports yarn is a little thicker and can be quite stretchy. The Caron Simply soft yarn is thinner, more lightweight and may not be as stretchy.
