Online Store Deals

We have posted our holiday season deals for this website and our Amazon Handmade Store good until the end of the year. For all those customers who purchase items from our Amazon Handmade store you will get FREE standard shipping if you purchase 2 or more items. This offer is only good for those in the U.S. There is no coupon code needed and the Amazon cart will automatically reflect the discount so long as you have 2 or more items on checkout.

For our own online store we have to institute a coupon to get the FREE standard shipping option on all items within the shop no matter how many you buy at one time. The code to put in the appropriate box on the check out screen is ” FreeShippingTill2019 “.Just copy and paste the letters and numbers within the parenthesis and your cart should update automatically. Of course, you can always choose the other shipping methods offered for expedited shipping but if you are ordering items as gifts if you order within 10 days of the holiday or birthday you should receive it on time. And, please remember that the U.S. Postal Service cutoff date for Christmas packages is December 20th. After this date you will have to pay the high fee to next business day delivery.

For all of our Canadian customers we apologize that we cannot offer you any discounts this year. It is just too expensive to mail packages to any address within the country let alone all the delays due to the Postal Worker strikes. We will ship all items orders using regular shipping only until December 1st (unless the strikes have ended and everything is back to normal) to receive your holiday gift orders. After this date we cannot offer on-time delivery unless you are willing to pay the extremely high-price for international express shipping which is about $48 U.S. Dollars or about $60 Canadian Dollars right now for all items under 4 pounds and less than $400 in value.

Fall Bringing Cooler Weather

We are hoping that with the upcoming fall season beginning next month our Florida weather will get a little cooler. We could use it to slow down the progress of the ever hatching mosquitoes and perhaps to even change the number of hurricanes we get this year. We do have quite a few of our winter weather crocheted items in storage just waiting for cooler weather to come along. Sadly, we haven’t had a lot of opportunities to complete our new and improved cellphone purses and totes with ribbons hand sewn into the straps and silky linings sewn in the middle to help stabilize the bags and keep things from falling out.

We still have a nice selection of hand crocheted hooded scarves, wrist warmers, dragon scales arm warmers and much more. For the summer months we do still have some of the hand crocheted water bottle holders, drawstring coin bags, scrunchies and a few completed cellphone totes both for kids and adults. Our dragonfly earrings have been selling this summer as are more of our beaded anklets. We are very thankful to our customers for all the things that they have bought and are buying in the future.

Sadly, this summer we had to take some time off from writing posts as well as creating our Southern Women Crafts newsletter so if you have already signed up to get a copy please be patient and we will start sending them out again at least by next month. If not you can sign up for future ones below. The ones we have posted are still available for review on our Southern Women Crafts blog http://southernwomencrafts.com/our-own-store/swc-store-news-and-updates/

What Are You Doing This Weekend

What are you doing this weekend? We have been to one Florida Folk Festival on Memorial Day weekend, had a blown engine for the next, our application was lost or not approved for the third and this year we just didn’t bother to apply this year. On the one hand I don’t miss all the preparation that is involved in getting ready for a 3-day handcrafted vendor event as well as hanging out all day outside in the heat. The plus side would be meeting all the new people, catching up with old friends and listening to some great music. But instead we will be working in the park and watching kids play in the playground.

Easter is for Food and Family

In our family, Easter has always been a day for a family get-together and to enjoy lots of great food. Generally, the weather is warm, the sun is shining and we hide the colored eggs in the backyard so the younger kids can find them. Afterward, we raid their Easter baskets for some of the candy and eat the boiled eggs or make deviled eggs then eat them. It was also a day when all the kids got a new outfit to wear when we visited my grandmother’s house. Well, all of our kids are now grown and the one grandchild I get to see is too old to go on an Easter egg hunt. Each year we told ourselves that we would go down to the beach to attend one of the sunrise services but sadly, we only got to one or two of those. Way too early in the morning even for that kind of view. And we have been traveling around for the past 5 years so I only get pictures most years. Besides easter has always been a time for pastel colors and my mom and I prefer more jewel tones in everything we make.
